The Bar Representation Committee is the voice of all Hall members at the Inn.
You are very welcome to attend the open section of a Committee meeting if you would like to see what happens or if you are thinking about getting involved. 'To attend' means to observe, e.g. there is no right to participate and you may be asked to leave at any time.
2017 Committee Dates from March onwards
Meetings usually take place at 33 Chancery Lane and start at 5.30 pm
12 October 2017 at 6pm, Lincoln’s Inn: The Bar Council and you
The Bar Council means different things to different members of the profession. It is a champion of the Bar at home and of the rule of law both at home and around the world. It provides services to its members, such as the ethics helpline and written ethics guidance. But some of its detractors would seek to reduce the practising certificate fee by doing away with it and funding only the Bar Standards Board.
In order for the Inn and its members to gain a better understanding of the work done by the Bar Council, and the way it is responding to the challenges faced by the Bar, the Bar Representation Committee has invited Andrew Walker QC to its first meeting of the 2017/18 legal year. Andrew is the current Vice Chair of the Bar Council and will be Chair of the Bar in 2018. He is in practice at the commercial Chancery bar. Andrew was elected a Bencher of the Inn in November 2016.
There will be additional spaces available to members of Hall who wish to attend Andrew Walker QC's talk and Q&A session. It will take place at 6pm (until 7pm) on Thursday 12 October 2017 at 33 Chancery Lane.
