Because it is a private Chapel, a special licence is required for those wishing to get married in the Chapel. One of the conditions of this licence, obtained from the Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury, is that either the bride or the bridegroom should be a member of the Inn, or that they should be the son or daughter of a Bencher of the Inn. Only in exceptional circumstances, usually for regular members of the congregation for whom the Chapel acts as a parish church, is a licence likely to be granted if these conditions are not met. Those who are so qualified should contact the Assistant Under Treasurer ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ), who will advise on the procedure for obtaining the licence and on the current fees, and give contact details for the Preacher and Organist. Those wishing to hold their reception in the Inn should contact the Banqueting Department, but if they wish to marry in the Chapel they should clear the date with the Assistant Under Treasurer first before booking a date for the reception. Members of the Inn who wish to have a child baptised in the Chapel should contact either the Assistant Under Treasurer or the Preacher ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. No licence is required for Christenings, and no fees are charged if, as is generally the case, the service takes place after the Morning Service on Sunday. The Chapel is occasionally available for a private Carol Service or Concert by arrangement. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
