Summary of scholarships and awards (2011/2012)

HARDWICKE ENTRANCE AWARDS £30,000
100 per year. Apply at any time, preferably before admission.
Covers Admission and Call fees and dining charges.

CPE SCHOLARSHIPS for non-law graduates of outstanding ability £150,000
Up to 32 Scholarships of up to £7,000.

MAJOR AWARDS FOR BPTC YEAR £1,252,000
Up to 70 Scholarships of between £6,000 and £17,000 each
Up to 40 Bursaries of up to £3,000 each.

Tancred Studentships
The Scholarships for the BPTC year will include two awards of approximately £10,000 each for male communicant members of the Church of England.

Scholarships for the BPTC year will include the offer to appropriate candidates of Accommodation Awards 11 rooms in self-contained flats in the Inn.

These will form part of a BPTC Scholarship, the amount of the award being reduced to take account of the accommodation.  Application forms for accommodation will be sent out with invitations to attend interviews.

AWARDS FOR PUPILLAGE YEAR £25,000
Up to 50 Scholarships of £500.

J P WARNER AWARD £3,500
For young barristers to spend three months at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT, THE HAGUE AWARD £3,500
For young barristers to spend three months at the International Criminal, The Hague.

PETER DUFFY HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD £3,500
For young barristers to spend three months at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

CONTINUING EDUCATION FUND £23,000
A bursary fund for overseas placements.

SUNDRY PRIZES FOR EXAM PAPERS AND DEBATING COMPETITIONS £2,000
Several prizes are given for performance in the BPTC; the Sir Louis Gluckstein Prize for debating or advocacy, the Ede and Ravenscroft Award for the Student of the Year; the Crowther Shield for extempore advocacy.
