A morning service is held at 11.30 am on all Sundays during law term time (32 Sundays per year), which the public are very welcome to attend. This is usually a service of Choral Matins sung by the Inn’s professional choir. Services are also held to mark many of the important dates in the Christian Calendar. The two annual carol services are always a highlight of the Chapel’s calendar and are very well attended. Other unique services include the annual Warburton Lecture which is held on a Sunday in June, the Family Day in early July and the Wigs & Mitres service in November.
On 18 March 2018, the John Donne Sermon was given by Dr Mary Ann Lund, Associate Professor in Renaissance English Literature, University of Leicester. Click here for a transcript.
The 2018 Warburton Lecture was given on Sunday 24 June by the Revd Dr William Lamb on “Awaiting the Apocalype? Reading the Bible in Trumps's America". Click herefor a transcript.
The Chapel is also used for weddings for members of the Inn and Memorial Services for senior members (benchers). Baptisms can take place in the Chapel by arrangement with the Preacher. These are normally held after Morning Service on Sundays. The Chapel stands at the heart of the Inn’s yearly calendar with services to mark many of the important occasions in the life of the Inn.
