The Inn is very keen to help those seeking to establish a career at the Bar if it is right for them. The Inn also wishes to assist those who advise students making this important decision.
If you are looking for more information on our outreach events and visiting the Inn please see our Outreach page.
InnSight Days 2018
Formerly known as Open Days, these events provide students interested in a career at the Bar the opportunity to hear more about Lincoln's Inn, as well as hear a talk from a practising barrister. The events are free and open to students wishing to learn more about how the Inns of Court work, and what support is available. Further details on the next round of InnSight Days will be released shortly.
University Information Afternoons and Dinners
Lincoln's Inn offers a series of events between February and April each year for university students who are interested in pursuing a career at the Bar; download the draft programme (pdf). Students are invited to visit the Inn, hear from practising barristers and dine in the Hall. Invitations have been sent to universities offering a qualifying law degree.
Those attending these events should note that the dress code is dark coloured suits for gentlemen (not Black Tie). Ladies should dress in a dark suit or appropriate formal dress with shoulders covered. Genuine dark coloured ethnic dress is welcomed.
Information regarding these events will be sent out to the relevant university contacts in December.
Sponsorship and Funding for Bar and Law Societies
Lincoln's Inn offer funding of up to £250 for University student Law/Bar societies. Applications for Michaelmas are closed, however another round of applications will be launched in the Hilary 2019. To be considered, you must complete an application form informing us why you are applying and how you intend to use the funding. We will let you know after the application deadline if your application for funding has been accepted, and the amount awarded. Student societies should note that they will only be able to apply for sponsorship from the Inn once per academic year. Details of the application process will be published here in early 2019.
The Neuberger Prize
Lincoln’s Inn offer the Neuberger prize to those about to begin their last year of a qualifying law degree in non-Russell Group universities. Now in the fourth year, the Neuberger Prize aims to identify students who are of proven excellence and give them the opportunity to integrate with the Inn during the final year of their qualifying law degree. The Inn will select up to 5 winners and they will be given £1000 and free student membership.
Applications for 2018 have now closed. Information regarding the prize in 2019 will be sent to the relevant law schools in the summer.
