European Visits

The Inn organises three subsidised visits to European and International Courts in Luxembourg, Strasbourg and The Hague each year. These are for the benefit of our student members, those who are pre-pupillage and pupils, and are accompanied by senior members of the Inn. The visits are three days (two nights) in duration. There is a small fee of £86, which covers travel and accommodation only. You will need to provide your own travel insurance.

The groups will visit the following institutions:

  • The Hague: the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.
  • Luxembourg: the Court of Justice of the European Union, the EFTA Court and the British Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’s Residence.
  • Strasbourg: the European Court of Human Rights and the Council of Europe.

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions about the visits or application process.

Euro Visit Criteria

To be eligible to attend the Euro visits, applicants must be a current student member of the Inn or up to 5 years post-call.

If you travel with a UK or EU passport, you will not need a visa to enter France, Luxembourg or the Netherlands for a short visit.  If you plan to travel with a different passport, you should investigate your visa requirements as this may affect your ability to attend. Should you require a visa for travel, you must currently be residing in the UK on a valid visa. This ensures that applicants are legally present in the UK and can fulfil the necessary documentation and travel requirements to enter the country visiting. Make sure to check all visa requirements well in advance to confirm your eligibility before applying.

We can provide applicants with a supporting letter to apply for a visa once they have been selected to attend the Euro Visit.
