The Inn’s annual Student Legal Essay Competitions invite Student members to submit essays in any legal area of interest. This year we received 51 entries — our highest number to date — a testament to the growing interest in legal scholarship across our student body.

All entries were reviewed by a panel of Benchers who selected the top 10 entries to be included in Volume VIII of the Student Law Journal. The panel commented on the high calibre of submissions received.

The winners for this year’s competition are:

  • Lincoln’s Inn Essay Prize – Luke Woollard
  • Lord Millett Equity Essay Prize – Tom Spencer
  • Second Overall Place – Rory Wilson
  • Third Overall Place – Sophie Sherman

Alongside our winners, we are delighted to congratulate all those whose essays were selected for inclusion in the Journal: Saul Agar-Ward, Rania Sorfina Binti Yamani Hafez, Judy Yi Ting Ma, Joshua Nurse, Bo Shi, and Henrik Tiemroth.

A hard copy of the journal will shortly be available in our library. A digital copy of the journal can be found on our website.

We would like to thank the journal’s editor, Edward Cousins, and our markers for their support in making this year’s edition possible.
