The Hon Justice Andrew Martin
Justice Martin was Called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in February 1983 and after completing pupillage returned to his native Bermuda to practice. After an initial period in general practice, Andrew specialised in complex commercial litigation, insolvency and contentious trust matters and was noted as a pre-eminent practitioner in those areas as a member of the Bermuda Bar. He was a founding partner of the Bermuda firm Mello Jones & Martin (now MJM Limited) and served for many years as managing partner of that firm.
Andrew retired from practice in 2022 and was appointed as puisne judge of the Supreme Court of Bermuda (the trial court) in September 2024 and now deals primarily with the wide range of commercial, insolvency and trust matters that regularly arise from the island’s well established international business sector.
He served as an acting Magistrate, Secretary of the Bermuda Bar Association and was a member of the Bermuda Law Reform Committee. Over the last 25 years, Andrew held various leadership positions in local charitable organisations, primarly focused on fund raising for independent local health service providers, including the Friends of Hospice, the Bermuda Health Alliance and the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust.
