About Anne Sharp CBE

Anne joined the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn as Under Treasurer in 2019 after a successful and varied career in the Civil Service.

From February 2013 Anne was the Chief Executive at ACAS, leading an organisation of 850 people based across Great Britain through organisational change and technological development. Before that she had spent nearly four years as Chief Executive of the Judicial Office, supporting the senior judiciary on complex governance and strategy issues and the wider judiciary through the development of professional HR, training and communications functions. These roles, along with her earlier posts within the Health and Safety Executive and other Government Departments, gave her a unique perspective from which to take on the position as Under Treasurer.

During her time at the Inn, Anne helped strengthen the Inn’s governance and operational security, bringing innovation and challenge but always recognising the importance of the Inn’s traditions and the needs of our members. She led the agreement of the Inn’s Purpose, Values and Ambition, creating the vision and basis for the development of the first Medium-Term Operating Plan. She was heavily involved in the drafting of the Code of Conduct which sets the basis of how we all work together to deliver that vision. She was instrumental in taking forward the recommendations of the Governance Working Group, culminating in Council’s agreement of the new Articles and Standing Orders in 2024. She was a valued member of the Inn’s Planning and Development Group.

Anne retired earlier this year and was elected an Honorary Bencher at the July meeting of Council.
