Professor Clare McGlynn QC (Hon) works closely with politicians, civil society and victims to improve the criminal law, particularly around intimate image abuse, extreme pornography and sexual violence. She has given evidence before the Scottish and UK Parliaments, and most recently to the Parliamentary committee reviewing the Online Safety Bill. She has addressed policy audiences across Europe, Australia, Korea and the US, and worked with social media companies including Facebook, Google and TikTok to develop their policies. In 2019, she was made an honorary QC in recognition of her work championing women’s equality in the legal profession and influencing new criminal laws.

She is a member of Parliament’s Independent Expert Panel which hears appeals and determines sanctions in cases of sexual misconduct and bullying by MPs. She is a co-author of the recently published books Cyberflashing: recognising harms, reforming laws (2021) and Image-Based Sexual Abuse: a study on the causes and consequences of non-consensual nude or sexual imagery (2021).

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session, where attendees will be able to ask the speaker questions.

The event is open to all, including non-members and members of other Inns. Those who have booked to attend remotely will be sent the Zoom link on the day of the event.
