Member Survey: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the Inn

We are committed to providing an environment in which all individuals are treated with dignity and respect, a diverse and inclusive Bar is supported and encouraged, and harassment in any form is not tolerated. That is why we are calling on all Lincoln’s Inn members to complete a short survey about their experiences at the Inn.

In 2021 the Bar Council undertook a survey of barristers’ working lives. Its findings on experiences of bullying, harassment and discrimination within the profession generally were bleak, with 1 in 3 reporting personal experiences in these areas in the past 2 years. We are now seeking to understand to what extent these experiences are mirrored within the Inn itself and how we can make things better – that’s where our members come in.

To get a true picture of our membership, it is vital that as many of our members as possible complete the Inn’s  survey, no matter what their experiences are, and irrespective of protected characteristics.

Members should have received an email from the Treasurer via [email protected] on Friday 15 July 2022 – that email contains the survey link to complete. If you did not receive the email, or need us to resend the link, please contact us and we will be happy to do so.

The survey will only take 5-10 minutes to complete. We do not ask for any personally identifiable data and all responses will be completely anonymous.

We plan to publish a summary of the survey findings, along with an action plan later in the year.

Thank you in advance to our members for their participation.
