Announcing the Officers of Lincoln’s Inn 2027

Congratulations to our Officers of the Inn for 2027, whose election was confirmed at the July Council meeting.

The Officers of the Inn (also known as the Cursus) are Benchers elected annually to serve one-year terms. The Treasurer is the head of the Inn and is supported by the other Officers. Subject to re-election, Officers typically progress through the Cursus one position at a time until becoming Treasurer.

In 2027, the Officers will be:

  1. Treasurer: Michael Todd KC
  2. Keeper of the Library: Dame Susanna McGibbon DCB KC (Hon)
  3. Keeper of the Black Book and Dean of the Chapel: Andrew White KC
  4. Keeper of the Walks: The Hon Mr Justice Trower

Particular congratulations to The Hon Mr Justice Trower on his election to Keeper of the Walks, his first appointment as an Officer of the Inn. His term will begin in January 2027. Find out more about him in his bio, below.

Treasurer: Michael Todd KC

Michael Todd KC was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1977, took Silk in 1997 and was elected as a Bencher in 2006. A practising barrister at Erskine Chambers, he focuses on litigation and advisory services in company law, both domestically and internationally. Michael’s extensive service includes roles such as Chair of the Bar Council (2012) and trustee of the Bar Pro Bono Unit (2013-2017).

Keeper of the Library: Dame Susanna McGibbon DCB KC (Hon)

Dame Susanna McGibbon KC (Hon) was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1990 and was elected a Bencher in 2021. She joined the Government Legal Profession in 1993 after three years in private practice at the Bar, and was appointed Treasury Solicitor and Permanent Secretary of the Government Legal Department (GLD) in March 2021. She was made Honorary King’s Counsel in 2025 and in 2026, after stepping down from her position at the GLD, she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the Bath in recognition of her public service.

Keeper of the Black Book and Dean of the Chapel: Andrew White KC

Andrew White KC was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1980, took Silk in 1997 and was elected a Bencher in 2003.  As a practising barrister at Atkin Chambers, he specialises in disputes relating to construction, infrastructure and energy projects, both nationally and internationally.  Andrew regularly sits as an arbitrator in many jurisdictions around the world.

Keeper of the Walks: The Hon Mr Justice Trower

Mr Justice Trower was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1983, became a Bencher in 2009, and currently serves on the Finance and General Purposes Committee (F&GP). He was appointed Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) in 2001 and became a Deputy High Court Judge in 2007. He became a High Court Judge assigned to the Chancery Division in 2019. He has been a member of the Civil Procedure Rules Committee since 2020. He also hears cases in the Financial List.
