Headshot of a smiling Nicola Williams. She is a Black woman, who wears her straightened hair swept back behind her in a middle parting. On her face there are dark, rectangular glasses. She wears an orange top and a patterned cardigan that features speckles of burgundy, red and white.

Nicola Williams (the latest in the Inn’s line of barrister-novelists) will launch her new legal thriller ‘Until Proven Innocent’ at a reception in the Library. Nicola’s first novel ‘Without Prejudice’ was recently selected to be republished in a series of novels celebrating Black Britain curated by Booker Prize-winner Bernardine Evaristo. ‘Until Proven Innocent’ sees the return of Lee Mitchell, a successful black woman barrister battling prejudice and a succession of legal and ethical dilemmas, who was the main protagonist of ‘Without Prejudice’.

Copies of both of Nicola’s books will be on sale at the event. Attendees will also be able to take the opportunity to view the Library exhibition on novels and the Inn.
Entry is free, but pre-booking via Eventbrite is essential.

Bookings close 12 noon on Wednesday 8 March
