Celebrating 100 years of women barristers at Lincoln’s Inn (Birmingham)
On 26 January 1923, Mercy Ashworth and Mithan Tata were the first women members of Lincoln’s Inn to be called to the Bar.
To honour the centenary of this incredible achievement, we are inviting our members (and one guest) to an exhibition that highlights the great strides that have been achieved in the legal profession through the stories of some of the most ground-breaking and influential women members of the Inn.
As part of this celebration, we are delighted to announce plans for the creation of a new artwork of Mercy Ashworth which will be hung in the building that was named after her. For this, we will be collaborating with Spark21, a charity that was founded to celebrate, inform and inspire future generations of women in law through multi-media processes that include exhibitions and photo mosaics. We are inviting our members who identify as women to have their photo taken at this event, which will be used to create the portrait.
This event is free to attend, but advance is booking via Eventbrite is essential.
