How we select our Benchers and how you can volunteer at the Inn
Join us (online or in person) for a panel event that will cover Bencher selection and explore the variety of ways you can volunteer at the Inn.
We particularly encourage anyone interested in becoming a Bencher and learning more about volunteering opportunities at the Inn. This free event is open to all Members of Hall and will be chaired by the Inn’s Director of Membership & Education, Faye Appleton, who will be joined by Benchers of Lincoln’s Inn, Claire Palmer (5 Essex Court) and Thomas Barrett (Government Legal Department).
The event will also be a great opportunity to meet our new Treasurer, The Rt Hon Sir Geoffrey Vos, who will be attending the reception.
Topics covered by the panel will be:
- An overview of the Inn’s governance structure and an explanation of who Benchers are, including eligibility criteria and time commitment.
- An explanation of the expression of interest and application process to become a Bencher.
- Current Benchers will discuss why they wanted to become a Bencher and what they get out of it.
- An overview of how members can get more involved at the Inn and the volunteering opportunities available.
