Represent your peers on the Bar Representation Committee: 2026 election timetable announced
Would you like to play a role in shaping the future of Lincoln’s Inn while building connections with fellow members? Stand in the Bar Representation Committee (BRC) elections for the chance to represent your peers and influence the work of the Inn.
The BRC represents members of Hall (that is, members who are not Benchers or students) and plays a key role in the governance of the Inn. As well as attending BRC meetings, representatives sit on Bench Committees and contribute to discussions on issues ranging from education and scholarships to member services, events and the Inn’s strategic priorities.
The role involves attending regular meetings, engaging with fellow members throughout the year, ensuring their views are heard, and working with the Inn’s professional team to deliver the agreed priorities. It is also provides an opportunity to develop skills in leadership, representation and governance, while broadening your professional network across a wide range of practice areas and career stages.
Above all, it is a chance to contribute to the life of the Inn by listening to fellow members, understanding the challenges and opportunities they face, and ensuring their perspectives are heard.
This year’s election offers opportunities for members of seven years’ Call and under, those at the employed and self-employed Bar, members without a current practising certificate in England and Wales and, for the first time, a dedicated position for a salaried judge. This new role will help ensure the perspectives of the judiciary are directly represented within the Committee’s work.
How Hall members can engage with the BRC
You do not need to stand for election to engage with the BRC. Hall members can contact their representatives throughout the year via [email protected] to raise issues, share views or find out more about matters under discussion. Members can also request meeting minutes and attend the open section of BRC meetings as observers.

How to submit your nomination
All Hall members with an email address on our system will be contacted by Civica, our election delivery partner, with a link to an online nomination form. The form includes questions about your professional background, experience, your priorities for the Committee, and how you would represent and engage with members if elected. Your candidate statement will later be shared with voters as part of the election process.

- Nominations open- Monday 21 September
- Nominations close – Monday 5 October
- Voter registration deadline – Monday 5 October
- Ballot opens – Monday 19 October
- Ballot closes- Monday 2 November
- Results announced – Monday 9 November
