2020 Exemption Applications
The application for Exemption from Bar Library Membership process is available as follows:
Application process opens Monday 2 March 2020 with deadline for return of Monday 23 March 2020, guaranteeing decision by 13 April 2020.
Application process opens Monday 10 August 2020 with deadline for return of Monday 7 September 2020, guaranteeing decision by 1 October 2019.
No new applications to be considered until the opening of the cycle in mid October 2020 for the following exemption year in 2021.
It is compulsory under the Code of Conduct for the Bar of Northern Ireland (S 1.9 – 1.12) for any barrister in independent practice wishing to practice in Northern Ireland that they must either be a member of the Bar Library or seek exemption from Bar Library Membership.
