Are you passionate about supporting the legal community on circuit? Would you like to help shape how the Inn engages with members across England and Wales? If so, we encourage you to apply to become a Circuit Representative and play a key role in strengthening the connection between the Inn and its members.

Applications are now open for the Inn’s Circuit Representative roles: one Senior Circuit Representative and one Circuit Representative for each circuit of the Bar of England & Wales (except the South Eastern Circuit).

These three-year appointments begin in January 2027 and offer a unique opportunity to help strengthen the connection between the Inn and members practising across the circuits. Circuit Representatives play an important role in championing the Inn locally, sharing members’ views and experiences, and helping to develop and support events, initiatives and opportunities that reflect the needs of their circuit.

We are looking for members who are enthusiastic about building connections, supporting colleagues and contributing to the life of the Inn beyond London. Whether you are keen to help expand the Inn’s reach, encourage greater participation in its activities, or ensure members on circuit have a strong voice, we would love to hear from you.

Circuit Representatives must be members of the Inn and practising barristers or pupils at the Bar of England & Wales. Enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to engage with fellow members are far more important than seniority, and applications are welcomed from practising members at all stages of practice.

Senior Circuit Representatives must be members of the Inn and either practising barristers or judges in England & Wales. These roles are typically held by members in senior positions within the profession, such as Benchers, King’s Counsel, senior in-house counsel, judges or Heads of Chambers. Senior Circuit Representatives provide leadership and support within their circuit and work closely with the Inn to help foster engagement and strengthen relationships across the profession.

Applications close on Monday 30 November 2026. Apply now via this form.

I applied to be a Junior Circuit Representative to see what the Inn could offer those on circuit who feel disconnected from the Inn. I enjoyed meeting other Circuit Representatives (remotely) to share ideas. Working with the Senior Circuit Representative we came up with plans to better serve those on circuit and to bring members of the Inn together. I found the role interesting, rewarding and not too much of a time commitment. I would encourage those on circuit to apply!
