Lincoln’s Inn commission nominated for prestigious Ivor Novello award

Joanna Marsh’s composition Batter My Heart, commissioned by Lincoln’s Inn, has been nominated for a prestigious Ivor Novello Composer Award at The Ivors Classical Awards 2024.
The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn commissioned the piece to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the dedication of Lincoln’s Inn Chapel, where John Donne served as Dean from 1621 until his death in 1631.
Batter my Heart is a musical setting of John Donne’s powerful sonnet, which captures the depth of its intense emotions. The piece was first performed on Wednesday 18 October 2023 in Lincoln’s Inn Chapel by The Choir of Lincoln’s Inn, directed by Nicholas Shaw.
