Scholarship Interviewers Needed
Each year, the Inn receives up to 300 Bar Course scholarship applications, of whom over 200 are invited for interview in London, Birmingham and Manchester. It is a significant undertaking, and we are constantly seeking members to assist the Inn with interviewing these students.
For many students, their scholarship interview is their first interaction with the Inn and with the Bar as a whole. It is therefore essential that our interview panels reflect the diversity of the profession that our students are aspiring to join and we welcome volunteers from all backgrounds.
To take part, the only requirements are that you are a practising or retired barrister or judge and that you have completed either the Bar Council’s Fair Recruitment and Selection Training or COIC’s Scholarship and Interview Panel Training. If you are interested in taking part but require training, it is possible for the Inn to arrange for you to attend the COIC course, but spaces are limited.
The next round of Bar Course Scholarship interviews in London will take place throughout the day on Saturday 8 February with additional sessions taking place in the evenings of Tuesday 11 February and Wednesday 12 February. Interview dates in Birmingham and Manchester are to take place w/c 3 February for one or two evenings.
If you are interested in becoming an interview panellist please complete this form and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
