Social Mobility: Where to start and where to find answers

An open discussion around improving social mobility in organisations.

This is a recording of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Forum “Social Mobility: where to start and where to find answers” that took place online on Wednesday 5 October 2022. It will be of interest to anyone wanting to build an awareness of what is meant by socio-economic status, and how to achieve social mobility, in particular lawyers who are involved in management, recruitment, EDI and career progression across the legal sector.

The event was was chaired by Chris Loweth, Director of Commercial, Rights and Business Affairs at BBC News, co-Chair of the Social Mobility sub-group at Lincoln’s Inn, and member of the Inn’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee. He was joined by Professor Anna Mountford-Zimdars, a Professor of Education and Joint Founder/Director of the Centre for Social Mobility at the University of Exeter, and Helen Mountfield KC, a renowned practitioner and academic expert in constitutional law, human rights and equality law, with particular experience in the education sector. Helen is currently Principal Tutor for racial inclusion at Mansfield College.
