Watch ‘Troubled Times: Lincoln’s Inn and its Lawyers in the Civil War Period’

The 1630s to the 1660s were turbulent times. There were three civil wars, Charles I was executed and there were regular uprisings until Charles II was restored and revenge could be taken.

In this Black Books Society lecture, Philip Jones KC explores the role that the lawyers of Lincoln’s Inn played during the English Civil War and its effect on the Inn.

The Black Books Society was founded to promote an appreciation of the history and possessions of Lincoln’s Inn through a series of talks and lectures by members, researchers, and academics. You can find out more about the Black Books Society here.
