On Thursday 11 April we will be holding the launch and presentation of “Building Bridges in European and Human Rights Law” in honour and memory of Paul Heim CMG, Bencher of the Inn and founder of the Inn’s European Group. The event is intended both to celebrate Paul Heim and to build upon his legacy through building further bridges and strengthening relations in European, international and human rights law.

The book features contributions from some of the foremost current or former European and international judges; leading practitioners and officials, each with links to Lincoln’s Inn, and former recipients of Lincoln’s Inn’s dedicated scholarship programmes.

The event will consist of two parts, including a panel discussion between a number of high-level speakers who will give us their perspectives and insights on the topic of building bridges. The Volume will be presented by the Inn to Paul Heim’s family. Chaired by the Treasurer of the Inn, Lord Briggs, Justice of the Supreme Court, our panel will include:

  • Francis Delaporte, President, Administrative Court of Luxembourg; Second Vice-President, Benelux Court of Justice
  • Arnfinn Bårdsen, Section President, European Court of Human Rights
  • Paul Berman, Legal Director, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office
