Dr Síofra O’Leary, the Former President of the European Court of Human Rights, will deliver the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Forum Keynote Lecture 2024 titled “Judging Europe”.

The Rt. Hon. Lord Justice Singh will introduce Dr O’Leary before the lecture.

Dr O’Leary was the first woman to serve as the President of the European Court of Human Rights upon her election in 2022. Before working at the Court, Dr. O’Leary was the Assistant Director for the Centre of European Legal Studies at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Emmanuel College. She is the author of two books entitled The Evolving Concept of Community Citizenship (Kluwer, 1996) and Employment Law at the European Court of Justice (Hart Publishing, 2001) and has published extensively in academic journals and EU law monographs on the protection of fundamental rights in the EU, EU employment law, the free movement of persons and services and EU citizenship generally.

Sir Rabinder Singh is a Lord Justice of Appeal and President of the Investigatory Powers Tribunal. He was appointed to the Court of Appeal in 2017. His publications include The Unity of Law (2022), a collection of his essays and lectures. He was elected a Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn in 2009.

The lecture is available to join online and in person and will be followed by a Q&A and a drinks reception, for in-person attendees only.
