Lincoln’s Inn Diversity Exhibition – Legal Biography Research Seminar
Lincoln’s Inn Diversity Exhibition – Legal Biography Research Seminar
Date: Wednesday 28 June 2023
Time: 10am – 4pm, includes lunch
Lincoln’s Inn Library is hosting a Legal Biography Research Seminar on the 28 June. There are a few places remaining and Lincoln’s Inn students would be welcome to apply.
The seminar forms part of the Library’s ongoing research into diversity among the Inn’s membership and preparations for the Inn’s celebrations of South Asian Heritage Month (17th July – 17th August).
As part of the preparations for this, the Inn is working with Professor Judith Bourne and some of her students from St Mary’s University, Twickenham.
The seminar will feature short presentations on research and source material for legal biographies and practical guidance on how to prepare research for exhibitions and presentation. The course will be led by Professor Bourne, Dunstan Speight (Lincoln’s Inn Library) and Carolyn Rampling (Lincoln’s Inn). Lord Justice Singh, who has been heavily involved with the research project, will also attend for part of the day.
Much of the day will be devoted to practical research including the opportunity to handle original documents relating to past members from the Inn’s Archive – including documents relating to Cornelia Sorabji and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The day will also include lunch in Hall.
Attendance at the event (including lunch) is free but places are limited so pre-booking is essential. Please contact [email protected] to book a place.
