Services & Events

All advertised services at Lincoln’s Inn Chapel are open to the public and anyone is very welcome to attend. Sunday services always take place at 11:30, during the legal terms. In Hilary Term 2026, they will take place until Palm Sunday, 29 March.

Lent has now begun, and the Chapel is hosting a range of services and events to mark this period of preparation for Easter. You can find the full Lent Programme here. The Music List for March 2026 is available here. Print copies are available from the Chapel itself.

Carol Service

Our services are usually celebrated according to the Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England, offering the beauty of seventeenth century language accompanied by our professional choir. We also host a range of popular special services throughout the year, such as Call Day celebrations, the annual Family Day and Barbecue, and two Christmas Carol Services; as well as a number of annual lectures – the most recent of which can be downloaded below:

Regular sermons and lectures

There are three annual addresses given in the Chapel at Lincoln’s Inn:

  • The Warburton Lecture has been a fixture of the Chapel’s life since it was established in 1768 by William Warburton, former Preacher and later Bishop of Gloucester. It usually takes place in June each year. More information on the history of the lecture may be found here. The text of the most recent lecture, given by The Reverend Alexander McGregor, Barrister of the Inn and Head of the Church of England Legal Office, is available here.
  • The Wigs & Mitres Address was founded in 1995, and sees a visiting bishop (‘mitre’) or judge (‘wig’) speak on a matter of mutual concern to the Church and the legal profession. The text of October’s address (the ‘mitre’), given by The Right Reverend Lusa Nsenga-Ngoy, Bishop of Willesden, is available here. The text of November’s address (the ‘wig’), given by Sir Robert Buckland KBE KC, the Third Church Estates Commissioner, is available here.
  • The John Donne Address celebrates the connection between the Inn and former Preacher John Donne (1572-1631), and usually takes place in March each year. The most recent address, given by Professor Philip West of Somerville College, Oxford, is available here.
