The Library  & Archives team have won the prestigious Wallace Breem Memorial Award for their work on the Rare Books and Manuscripts Online website.

Launched in 2022 as part of the Inn’s 600th anniversary celebrations, the Rare Books and Manuscripts Online site is an extensive digital archive which includes manuscripts of the Inn’s Black Books (dating back to 1422), architectural drawings for the Great Hall, historic law reports and case papers and a curated selection of manuscripts, including an early version of seminal medieval work Piers Plowman and John Selden’s Table Talk.

The news was announced at the BIALL (British & Irish Association of Law Librarians) Conference held on Thursday 13 June 2024. The Wallace Breem Memorial Award is presented every two years and is sponsored by The Inner Temple and BIALL. The Award serves to celebrate exceptional contributions to law librarianship, or provide financial assistance (£600) for special research or other projects at doctorate level or higher. BIALL is an independent professional body promoting better management of law libraries and legal information units in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.  It represents the interests of law librarians, legal information professionals, and other suppliers of legal literature and reference materials.

Congratulations to the Library & Archives team for winning the award, a testament to their outstanding work on this unique and ongoing project.
