Lincoln’s Inn digital collections website launches
1422-2022: Manuscript to Digital
To mark the 600th anniversary of the Inn’s Black Books, which survive in a continuous sequence from 1422, we are pleased to announce the launch of our digital collections website.
This includes the first nine volumes of the Black Books spanning the period 1422 – 1691. Although published in an edited version, the full text of this manuscript has never previously been publicly available.
The website also contains a selection of Philip Hardwick’s drawings for the Great Hall and Library buildings (1843-5) and one of the Library’s collection of mediaeval manuscripts – a 13th century cartulary of Battle Abbey in Sussex.
This is the start of an exciting project to make items from the Inn’s Library and Archives collections available online.
