Three members and the Inn's Under Treasurer at the Birmingham Circuit Dinner

The Treasurer’s Circuit Dinner, Birmingham on Friday 6 June 2025

We were delighted to be joined by Called members of the Midland Circuit at a dinner hosted by the Treasurer of the Inn, The Hon Sir Paul Morgan, on Friday 6 June. The evening began with a champagne drinks reception at the Hotel du Vin, before guests moved through for a three course dinner with wine chosen by the Inn’s Wine Committee. The Inn’s Senior Circuit Representative for the Midland Circuit, His Honour Judge Paul Burns, said “The dinner was a fantastic opportunity for members to meet and catch up on circuit. We are looking forward to building on this success with a range of different events over the coming year”. Thank you to everyone who attended for a memorable evening.

It was lovely to spend the evening with fellow Hall members from across the Midland Circuit. I am very much looking forward to the next event and would highly recommend it to fellow my Midland Circuiteers.

The Bar Conference 2025, Birmingham on Saturday 7 June

The Inn’s Member Engagement Manager, Anna McCole, attended the Bar Council’s first Bar Conference on circuit on behalf of the Inn earlier this month. They had the opportunity to hear from Barbara Mills KC, Chair of the Bar, who described 2025 as “the year of the review”, Sarah Sackman KC MP on long awaited reforms to the criminal Bar and The Rt Hon Harriet Harman KC with updates on the independent review on bullying and harassment at the Bar that she is currently undertaking. The event was an excellent opportunity to catch up with members from the Midland Circuit and beyond, and showed how these types of events can be successful and more accessible for members of the Bar on circuit.
