Chapel

Welcome to the Chapel. We are here to serve the whole community of the Inn – members, staff, visitors, and all those who live and work here. Our aim is to provide quiet amidst the clamour, music for the soul, stimulation for the intellect, and support under pressure.

The Chapel of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, Lincoln’s Inn, was consecrated on Ascension Day 1623 by George Montaigne, Lord Bishop of London, and has continued to be a centre of worship in this place ever since. A more detailed historical account (also covering the history of earlier chapels on this site) is provided in Stella Baker’s The Chapels of Lincoln’s Inn Since 1422 (2008), which is available for purchase from the Library at the cost of £5.

Please note that the Chapel is currently closed to the public while a £220,000 restoration project takes place on the Chapel’s historic east window.
