Becoming a Pupil Supervisor

The Bar Standards Board no longer prescribes the eligibility criteria for pupil supervisors except that a pupil supervisor must normally be a practising barrister. Pupil supervisors no longer have to apply to their Inn for approval, it is for chambers or the employer to decide who is suitable and to ensure they have received appropriate training.

Training

Pupil supervisors must receive training and refresher training that meets outcomes set by the BSB (Part 4B of the Bar Qualification Manual). The Inns of Court offer training to meet some of these outcomes. Members can attend training at any Inn, however they should book through the relevant contact at their own Inn. Dates and locations are listed below. Members of Lincoln’s Inn who have not yet registered for a course should contact Emily Aisher.

Training Dates & Locations

You can train at any of the Inns, or Circuits, who run the same course. Please contact Emily Aisher to register your interest in attending any of the courses below.
