Accessibility

We aim to provide a friendly, accessible environment for all our visitors and the widest possible access to our buildings.

Entrance options – Visitors may enter our estate through the Gatehouse (main pedestrian entrance and vehicle entrance), or pedestrian entrances on Chancery Lane (open 08:00-19:00), or Wildy’s Passage (open 08:00-19:00). Other entry points require fobs and are strictly for the use of staff, residents, and tenants. Our main reception is located in the Treasury building, and is open from 09:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.

Parking – Disabled parking bays are available on site for blue badge holders only. If the designated bays are unsuitable, blue badge holders should speak to the Wardens (located at the Gatehouse)  as short-term, alternative accommodations may be possible. Normal parking fees will apply – the current rate is £5 per hour or part thereof, up to a maximum of £25 per day, which is payable at the main gate on departure. Lifts – Please note that our lifts are not self-operable. A member of staff on site will assist and operate the lifts for any visitors who require its use. While we strive to ensure that lifts are always in service, there may be occasional disruptions due to technical issues beyond our control. We appreciate your understanding and patience in these situations.

  • Library – Wheelchair users and visitors with mobility needs can access the Library via a lift located in the Library extension near the North Lawn. Entry via this route is controlled by an entry phone which connects to the Library Enquiry Desk.

Stair climber – The Inn operates a stair climber for visitors needing assistance with access. To arrange its use, please contact the Chief Porter’s office at [email protected] prior to your visit. If notified in advance, they can also arrange parking close to the relevant premises.

Service animals – In accordance with our Reasonable Adjustments Policy, we welcome assistance dogs. Please speak to a member of staff or contact [email protected] ahead of your visit to make arrangements.

Accessible toilets – There are accessible toilets located in the Ashworth Centre and Treasury Building (in the corridor by the OCR).

Baby changing facilities – There are facilities located in the women’s toilets within the Treasury Office.

Hearing induction loops – Hearing induction loops are available in the  Ashworth Centre meeting rooms, the Great Hall and the Library (available from the Enquiry Desk). An Infrared Hearing System is available in the Ashworth Centre Lecture Theatre.
